Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Vinyasa Flow is a contemporary approach to the ancient discipline of yoga. It involves intelligent, thoughtful sequencing and mindful breathing that in time can become not only a way to better understand our bodies but a way to better understand our lives. Soon the lessons we learn on the mat begin to follow us off the mat and not only do we become stronger, more in tune and connected to our bodies, we become happier, more in tune and connected to ourselves and the world around us.

My weekly classes cater to the more seasoned practioner however all levels are more than welcomed if you enjoy a challenge.  We explore how to approach our practice in an intelligent, conscious way so that we are always fully aware as to how we ended up where we are or what we are doing at any given moment. We explore stages and modifications of various poses and learn how to make yoga relevant, beyond the mat, allowing it to become a valuable tool to heal, strengthen and support us in all aspects of our lives.

There is growing evidence that yoga can greatly increase a women's chance of becoming pregnant. Fertility Flow Yoga is a moving, flowing Vinyasa practice that has been specifically designed to focus on postures that strengthen and unblock the various muscles, organs and pathways that support the reproductive system.

By stimulating the energy flow within our bodies, we can significantly improve the circulation to the reproductive organs, re-balance our systems and reduce stress. Stress is proving to play a major part in many cases of fertility issues particularly where there is no known reason. It's because of this that the stress reduction Fertility Flow Yoga can offer plays a vital role in releasing the tension and anxiety that builds up in the body, especially around and within the reproductive area.

Studies have shown that the benefits of Yoga as an aid to conceive include:

*Increased blood flow to the uterus to promote implantation

*Improved ovarian function, which may help produce better quality eggs and a larger number of follicles

*Reduced side effects of drugs used in ART procedures

*Decreased uterine contractions, intended to encourage implantation, and prevent early miscarriage

*Reduction of stress hormones and anxiety surrounding the desire to have a child

*Strengthens the immune system as a support to overall health possibly helping to prevent miscarriage

Fertility Flow Yoga consists of moving, graceful Vinyasa Flow yoga sequencing, supported inversions and multiple lower back, inner thigh, hip and pelvic openers. These postures are all key to directing the circulation of blood and energy flow straight into the various muscles, organs and pathways that support the reproductive system. The focus of the practice is to open the communication between the heart centre and the 2nd chakra. This is the energy centre in the body that governs our sexuality, creativity, emotions and fertility.

Flow Yoga Mama

Created while Mercedes was expecting her first child, Flow Yoga Mama was designed to support the growing demand of active women who become pregnant but still wish to move in a fluid manner as their baby grows inside. Flow Yoga Mama incorporates various Vinyasa Flow Yoga sequences that open up key areas in the body normally adversly affected by pregnancy (lower back, pelvis, hips) in a safe yet flowing, graceful way.  Sequences change according to the trimester and most importantly, standard yoga postures are modified in creative, accessible and inspiring ways allowing for continued practice throughout pregnancy.
